The fragrance pays tribute to the tradition of the lector at Cuban cigar factories, whose role was to read aloud to cigar rollers. Workers were captivated by Les Misérables by Victor Hugo and the compelling works of Honoré de Balzac, Stendhal, Edgar Allan Poe, and Herman Melville. Over time, these readings became as inseparable from cigar-making as the scent of tobacco itself. In the interpretation of renowned perfumer Cécile Zarokian, the unique frankincense and tobacco accord takes on enriched and modern dimensions. Aromatic flashes of cardamom and elemi illuminate the sensual heart, shimmering with floral and balsamic facets of incense and tobacco. Benzoin, labdanum, and myrrh intensify the amber warmth of vanilla and tonka bean, echoing into the coumarinic depth of fenugreek. Nuances of prunol, Bulgarian rose, and osmanthus create the fruity-floral aroma of luxurious cigars. Anise and basil support the candy-like sweetness of licorice, leading into a multi-layered finale of smoky birch tar, vetiver, and guaiac wood, enhanced by the radiant animalic touch of oud.
