Fragrance

Rose & Cuir embodies all the hallmarks of Jean-Claude Ellena’s original style: it is contrasting and romantic. The fragrance opens with airy rose notes—pure, elegant, and fresh. The sparkling floral accords transition into a leather note. Dry vetiver and cedar notes provide a particular austerity characteristic of classic works, while rose and leather celebrate an abundance of feelings and emotions. A bright blackcurrant note, along with special Timut pepper and Bourbon geranium extracts—new perfumery ingredients crafted on Jean-Claude’s request—add freshness and spiciness to the composition. The fragrance’s richness is enhanced by isobutyl quinoline, a now-forgotten ingredient first synthesized in the early 20th century and widely used by perfumers in the 1950s for bold leather fragrances. Spray on skin, chest, behind the ears, wrists, back of the neck, and along the hairline.
