Guide to foundations
Foundation is one of the most personal items in a makeup bag. It’s difficult to choose it based only on a description or someone’s advice, because it’s not just about matching the shade or your skin type, but also about how you want to look and feel on a particular day.
The lightest foundations are almost imperceptible on the skin. They gently even out the complexion, reduce excess redness, and give the skin a fresh look while preserving its natural glow and texture. With them, the face looks well-rested rather than made up. Such formulas are especially comfortable for dry and normal skin.
Medium coverage is the most versatile option. It makes the skin look noticeably more even while maintaining a natural appearance. Such products help conceal signs of fatigue and minor imperfections, making them well suited for work, meetings, and everyday activities.
Full-coverage foundations provide the most even result. They conceal imperfections more effectively and create a smoother finish, which is why they are often used for evenings, special events, or photoshoots. At the same time, modern formulas look much lighter and more natural than they did before.
Stick foundations deserve special attention. They're one of the most convenient formats: compact, easy to apply, and ideal for quick makeup looks. Sticks allow you to apply the product precisely—for example, to specific areas where correction is needed—and then blend it with a brush, sponge, or even your fingers. These foundations typically have a thicker texture, so they effectively cover redness and imperfections. They also fit easily into a makeup bag or purse, making them an excellent option for touching up your makeup throughout the day.
