Cinnamon has transcended the confines of kitchens, calorie-laden cinnamons, and cappuccinos on Thursdays&mdash;it now rules perfumery, transforming each composition into a multilayered story of warmth, endorphins, and seduction. Cinnamon is a selfish spice. It never blends in with others&mdash;either in the kitchen or in the beauty industry. It transforms the entire composition, and even in the most complex fragrances, you'll likely recognize it first. That's why perfumers have treated it with great caution for decades: too intense, too piquant, too likely to steal the show.

But consumer perceptions have shifted. According to a new trend report from influential analysts Spate, interest in gourmand fragrances with warm notes&mdash;vanilla, coconut, and marshmallow&mdash;saw a significant increase between March 2025 and March 2026. And within this wave, cinnamon has taken the lead.

Perfumers attribute this to cinnamon's multifaceted nature, despite its recognizable nature. It simultaneously encompasses several dimensions: warm, spicy, sweet, dry, woody, and balsamic. Depending on the concentration, it can feel like a cozy fireplace or like a sharp edge. This largely depends on the raw material. Cinnamon bark oil is darker and more intense, with a slightly woody dryness; the leaf oil, closer to cloves, is fresher, greener, and less sweet. Cinnamon brings a subtle sweetness and natural roundness. This is precisely what makes it a more flexible instrument: it works in gourmand, floral, and citrus compositions, without disrupting their logic, but rather adding complexity.

Finally, cinnamon has an important practical property: it increases the longevity of the fragrance on the skin, helping other notes linger longer.

Kilian Angel&rsquo;s Share

Kilian Born to Be Unforgettable

Alberto Morillas, the perfumer behind this fragrance, set himself the task of capturing the taste of cola in a perfume. The result was released in 2024 and belongs to the fresh olfactory family of Kilian. The composition opens with a burst of lime, followed immediately by cinnamon. Here, it functions as part of the formula: not a note, but an ingredient in the recipe of a recognizable drink. Combined with nutmeg and vanilla, it imitates the caramel-spicy depth of cola, difficult to describe, but instantly recognizable. The result is a fragrance that balances between fresh and gourmand. As it turns out, cinnamon can be very convincing in creating gastronomic illusions on the skin.

Launched in 2024 as part of the Oriental Universe collection, Centaurus is a noticeable departure from Creed's DNA, which traditionally gravitates toward fresh, marine, and foug&egrave;re compositions.
